The Second General Assembly of the STRATUM project

On 19-20 February 2025, the University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín in Spain hosted the Second General Assembly of the STRATUM project. The meeting was attended by partners from all 6 different European countries of the project.

The University Hospital of Gran Canaria Dr. Negrín is at the forefront of research and application of new technologies in neurosurgery, being one of the three European centers, together with the Hospital Universitario 12 de Octubre (Spain) and the Karolinska University Hospital (Sweden), where the system developed in STRATUM will be validated. This interdisciplinary effort stands out for integrating the experience of neurosurgeons, medical professionals, engineers and specialists in social sciences and humanities to develop an innovative tool to optimise the planning and execution of brain tumour surgeries.

During the meeting, co-creation sessions were held in which neurosurgeons and other stakeholders tested a preliminary prototype of the system. Their contributions are crucial for the project in order to improve the future tool and adapt it to the needs of the surgical environment. Additionally, during the meeting the partners of the consortium presented their current status of their work and worked together to define the strategies and objectives for the next phases of development.

The meeting highlighted the innovative work within the STRATUM project and shaped the direction of future meetings.
